THE EAR

1)Ear Canal

 narrow passage through which sound enters the ear.

 

2)Auditory Canal

connects the outer ear with the eardrum ( Tympanic Membrane)

 

3)Ear Drum

the beginning of the middle ear and is made of a thin sheet of muscle and skin that vibrates in response to sounds.

 

4) Small bones: anvil, hammer, stirrup

By the time the sound has reached the stirrup, it has been amplified about 30 times.

 

 

5) Cochlea

The fluid inside the cochlea passes vibrations to tiny hairs connected to Auditory Nerves

 

6) Eustachian Tube

tube that connects the middle ear with the Pharynx .

 

 

7) Auditory Nerve

These send messages to the brain, which are then interpreted as sounds.

 

 

ANATOMY OF THE EYE

The eye has many parts that must work together to produce clear vision:

·         The sclera, or white part of the eye, protects the eyeball.

·         The pupil, or black dot at the centre of the eye, is a hole through which light can enter the eye.

·         The iris, or coloured part of the eye, surrounds the pupil. It controls how much light enters the eye by changing the size of the pupil.

·         The cornea, a clear window at the front of the eye, covers the iris and the pupil.

·         A clear lens, located behind the pupil, acts like a camera lens by focusing light onto the retina at the back of the eye.

·         The retina is a light-sensitive inner lining at the back of the eye. Ten different layers of cells work together in the retina to detect light and turn it into electrical impulses.

PREMIOS DEL 13 CONCURSO INTERNACIONAL DE HAIKU DE JAPAN AIRLINES

El pasado jueves, 12 de junio, tuvo lugar la entrega de premios del 13er Concurso Internacional de Haiku organizado por Japan Air Lines (JAL) y en el que tres alumnos del colegio han obtenido premio. Se otorgaban tres grandes premios a los que el jurado consideró los tres mejores de entre casi 800 trabajos presentados. En esta ocasión el tema del concurso eran “ los sueños”.

El primer premio fue para Versabia María moraga López de 4º A con el siguiente haiku:

Amaneciendo:

El mar, el faro, las olas....

rompen mi sueño

Entre los 17 premios que el jurado concedió, aparte de los tres grandes premios, tenemos en 4º A otros dos alumnos premiados, estupendos haijines también. Ellos son Mario Sánchez y Carmen María García y estos son sus haikus:

el brillo de la luna

cubre la playa

La entrega de premios fue el pasado 12 de junio en la residencia del embajador de Japón en España el Excelentísimo Sr. Satoru Satoh, quien hizo entrega de los premios a los niños y niñas. Os dejo entrada en la siguiente algunas fotos del evento al que Mario no pudo acompañarnos.
